(CNN)Americans have a thing for guns. The big presence of guns is a big reason we use them so often. That’s why I applaud the NBA, a cultural campaign, for deciding to take a stance against gun violence.
Now it’s time for the nation’s top sporting organization, the NFL, to stand alongside the NBA.
Christmas Day, 27 Americans lost their lives to gun crimes. So it’s safe-to-say that the NBA chose Christmas Day to start airing a public service advertisement asking us to think about how guns have made our lives worse. Whether we’re shooting our guns into the sky or at each other, they’ve become too common in our lives. More than one-third of all households in America contain at least one firearm.
